From Grassroot Poetry Instagram posts, the mission of the organization is: “We build community through poetry from relationships to real estate. We’re dedicated to empowering poets and uplifting poetry communities…We are dedicated to nourishing, connecting, and uplifting poetry, poets, and poetry communities through workshops, poetry events, and other activities that highlight and uplift the talent, poetry, and stories of those who have been historically underserved, misrepresented, and underrepresented.”

José Cordón is the founder of Grassroot Poetry. His poetry has been commissioned by Google, AltaMed, and the Latino Community Foundation. He created A Poetic Experience at El Campanil Theater and Monument Impact’s H.O.M.E.S. (Home Offers Me Escape and Safety) art program.

José Cordón is the Poetry Series Program Workshop Artist and Youth Arts Connection Lead Workshop Artist & Facilitator for ARTSCCC.
