Stu212 Music is a nonprofit organization with the mission to break the school to prison pipeline. They are committed to providing a safe and educational environment for all youth so that they can gain and develop interpersonal skills, acquire information to be productive in their communities, and teach life skills that will help the youth achieve their goals as they transition from adolescence to young adulthood.
Founder Jeremy Phillips brings over 16 years of experience working with the youth. He graduated from California State University, East Bay with a B.S. degree in Recreation and a concentration in Youth Development Programming. As a former troubled youth himself, Jeremy has a unique perspective on understanding and connecting with young people.
Stu212 offers several key initiatives to support youth development including Music Therapy to help youth cope with trauma and mental health setbacks. In addition to creative arts, the group provides information on exercise, nutrition, and a healthy lifestyle through their Health & Wellness program. They also teach youth the basics of money management and how it impacts their lives. Through their mentorship efforts, the team engages with youth one on one and in groups. They share life experiences to meet youth right where they are.
Jeremy Phillips is the Lead Workshop Artist for the ARTSCCC Youth Arts Connection program.
