I am a retired software developer and engineer. I took up art about 7 years ago as a hobby and this turned into a passion. I enjoy the outdoors and like to incorporate outdoor scenes in my paintings. I was born in New York but have spent most of my life in California.

Artist Statement

Please provide a brief description of your creative process, motivations, and inspirations:

My paintings are inspired by scenes of paradise on land and sea. They are a celebration of life from my backyard to wild open spaces. Look here for beautiful flowers and more. Let them take you on a virtual vacation to a special place full of color and life.

My primary interest is in the area of landscape painting using acrylic paint. I am most inspired by outdoor scenes and nature. I enjoy the quiet of wild places, the range in colors and the ever-changing lighting.

The inspiration for my paintings comes from nature calendars, art books, my photographs of the outdoors, and online photographs taken by others. I combine elements from multiple photographs into a new composition. I often enhance the colors and contrast from that in the photos in order to make the painting more expressive. I use a semi-impressionist painting technique rather than a strictly realistic approach. I paint using brushes, palette knives (to add texture), my fingers, and cotton swabs. I use paint pens to add details and lettering to my paintings.

I am a mostly self-trained artist and I have been creating artwork for seven years.
