I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since retiring as a school psychologist, I have found delight in learning about and creating mosaic art. I was first introduced to mosaics in 2010 when I took a workshop, which was followed by many more classes and workshops from assorted mosaic artists. I first publicly exhibited my creations at Burning Man 2013, and my “Fire Dance” piece was featured for over a year at the Burning Man Headquarters in San Francisco. Since 2026, I have begun exploring mixed media and collage. I have much to learn, but am very much enjoying exposure to different materials and techniques.

I appreciate the versatility and challenges of the mosaic medium and enjoy the meditative
aspect of making art. While working, I may create a story as the piece
progresses. I love the reflective variability of glass and the contrast that stone provides. I
may include other materials such as tile, beads, fused glass, china, or found objects, and I like
how different materials interact with each other. Finding the most effective materials, color,
and placement for each bit is a satisfying challenge. I sometimes create
intuitively, but other times will follow carefully made plans. I look to create relationships or
“conversations” between the various elements of my creations.
While I enjoy stretching or reshaping reality to match my vision, science and the natural
world are often my starting point. Ambiguity appeals to me, and I very much like the varied
reactions from viewers.
