The Center for Community Arts, part of the City of Walnut Creek’s Arts and Recreation Department, has been inspiring creativity since 1964. Serving over 10,000 individuals each year, the Center offers a wide range of art classes and workshops for all ages.
At the Center for Community Arts, you can learn from experienced teaching artists and your fellow students in comfortable studios around the city. You or your child can register for classes and workshops in drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, glass, fiber arts, jewelry, photography, and digital media. We also offer classes in dance, music, and theater. Build your skills from beginning to advanced classes. We even offer intensives in dance, music and theater. Preschools and camps give youth from ages 2-14 the time and space to play, develop, and learn in the arts.
Beyond classes, the Center engages the community through free art-making events, street fairs, festivals, student exhibits, and performances. We also collaborate with schools and community organizations to bring arts programs to various venues and offer financial aid to ensure inclusivity for all participants, including those with special needs.
