Long time fine artists Renaye Johnson and Thea Jue collaborated on this winning design. Using acrylic paint, they created a celebration of music. Their composition includes guitars, violins, a mandolin and a banjo with a timely reference to a major musical event of 50 years ago.
For the theme of Music and Market, both artists really liked the idea of using musical instruments that could often be heard in Todos Santos Park.Thea found inspiration for the banjo from the Woodstock gathering, using vibrant colors and a theme of peace. Thea also paid tribute to three well-known artists on her violins. Vincent Van Gough – Starry Night, Claude Monet – Waterlily Garden and Paul Gauguin- Tahiti Sunsets. Renaye painted a grouping of instruments from her husband Rich Dordan’s collection. She included a guitar, dobro and mandolin. She also paid tribute to one of her favorite guitarist Buddy Guy, painting his polka dot fender guitar.
