I make art that feels good and serves as an outlet to capture moments in time. It’s my truest form of self-expression, unlocking a carefreeness and ushering in the release of emotions and thoughts. I naturally gravitate to the Black female perspective because that’s who I am. It is important to have a voice in this space that is often misunderstood or misrepresented. I skillfully handle charcoal, oil, or gouache to create dynamic portraiture and unique landscapes. I use traditional methods and techniques in my art and take liberties when necessary. I’m inspired by everyday life, entertainment and personal experiences.
My hope is to inspire other people to chase after their dreams and live the life they’ve always desired. It may not unfold exactly the way you planned but know that doesn’t lessen the journey. I’m exploring art through my eyes after years of commissioned work. I’m also challenging myself to make what I want, when I want and allowing grace the chance to fill in the gaps. If it feels right, then it is right.
