Elizabeth Kennen, a Pleasant Hill-based artist, primarily works in watercolor. She’s been an artist since childhood, always encouraged in her artistic endeavors by her creative family, who were active in the arts themselves. Her love of nature and art began early, fostered by trips to the ocean and mountains with a sketch pad always at hand. She has a passion for drawing and painting the details found in nature.
She enjoys working in watercolor, as well as colored pencil and oils. Her compositions are inspired by her travels and by studying the nature and landscapes of Northern California. She strives to create a peaceful, inviting atmosphere in her work, reflecting an appreciation for the beautiful and interesting things around us. Her paintings showcase her love of subtle color layering, texture, and detailed work.
Elizabeth’s artwork is exhibited in various Bay Area galleries, and she exhibits regularly at Moraga Art Gallery, where she is now a member artist.

As an artist, I am inspired by a love of nature. Most of my artwork focuses on landscapes, architecture, nature studies, and wildlife. I enjoy drawing and painting in detail, creating layers of color and texture. Watercolor and colored pencil are two of my favorite mediums. I love painting scenes that are peaceful and inviting—places that keep calling me back. With each new composition, I hope to capture a time and place that is special and beautiful. Hopefully, the viewer will want to be there as well.
