Lafayette War Memorial

The Lafayette War Memorial was created in 2021 as part of the Lafayette Veterans Memorial Center. The work is a stone monument with a bronze plaque that lists the names of fallen service members from Contra Costa County who died in defense of the country since September 11, 2001. The memorial shows a list of twenty- three names, including their military rank, branch, hometown, and date of death. The piece reflects the local history of military service and demonstrates the community’s effort to honor residents from cities such as Martinez, Concord, Walnut Creek, and Lafayette.
