Artist Patricia Vader: “A public artwork designed like an entrance gate from the parking lot to the plaza, with both sides, front and back, representing a frontal peacock. The 28 bicycle wheels with aluminum disks act like windmills, spinning in the slightest breeze, even when you think there is no wind at all. When mounted on a bicycle fork, like the two top wheels, the windmills also rotate about the fork axis.
A real peacock has 100 to 200 eyes in its train of feathers, a lot more than contained in my sculptures. This is not for my lack of trying: when I compare the final piece to my drawings I find myself guilty of having sneaked in a few more wheels.”
